so much for 60 and sunny

Yesterday my mom, sister and I took my nephews to Vala's Pumpkin Patch.   We were so excited because it was supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny.  It started out that way...

On the way up Brayden and I talked about memories from last year's trip.  He, surprisingly, remembered quite a bit about it.  Our first stop had to be the smoking truck with the skeletons in it.  Last year Brayden diagnosed it..."it has a broken axle."  Every car/truck/running vehicle that wasn't working had a broken axle.  This year he's upped his shop talk and talks about other issues the truck must be having.

Our second stop was to feed the goats.  We had to get the picture being measured with both the boys in it!  Then through a haunted house...Bray loved it.  Then on to the play area where Brayden popped out of a slide.  He was really excited to go to the "jumpy things."  It started drizzling at that point, but Brayden and I took off our shoes and jumped to our hearts' content.

After that we tried to get him to go on the pedal cars or the little trikes...but he was being too bashful.  So to get a break from the rain we went into a building and got some snacks.  Brayden loved his big sucker and ring pop grammy bought him.

Next was feeding the rabbits, then off to the pig races and the tractor ride and then to see another haunted house.  He wanted to go through it again although I had to carry him through the first time and grammy the second.  He loves to be a little bit spooked.

Finally, since the rain was not subsiding, we went through a couple more exhibits then picked out some spooky toys.  Brayden got a gun (surprise, surprise) and a rubber rat to show daddy.

Despite the rain, we had a great time.   It was PACKED though!  But what do you expect going on a Saturday 1 week before Halloween!  That's what you get with my schedule though.

  1. Looks like a GREAT time! Melissa's in town this weekend and we were going to take Owen to Vala's on Friday but it was rainy and cold. We decided to go to a little pumpkin farm near Nick's work instead. They didn't have all the 'fun' stuff like Vala's but Owen got to pick out 3 pumpkins and we had a blast carving them! I'll post pictures to the blog soon!
